How many car seats can fit across a back seat?
Most cars have a usable rear bench of 47–52 inches. Three standard convertible seats (each ~18–20") won't fit; three narrow seats (~17") need about 51" edge-to-edge. So three-across works in wide benches (minivans, many SUVs, the Subaru Outback) or with three of the narrowest seats — and it's always decided by half-inches, so test-fit.
